Rudy and Mildred (and Radioactive Iodine)

Conversation with Mildred Seddlemeyer
Fall of 1994
(with Ruth Everson)

Ruth:
Here's a picture that I've always liked real well, and I think you like this picture too.

Mildred:
Oh yes.

Ruth:
It's a picture of your new house, and you and Daddy were having a cup of coffee all dressed up. Must have been after church one time.

Mildred:
I think you were there to take that.

Ruth:
No, I think you had that on automatic timer.

Mildred:
Could be!

Maybe I took the picture. Who knows? I really don't know.

Mildred:
I'm lots thinner there. That was the time that I wasn't feeling good. I was a lot thinner there. That's the time when Gloria, we went to California, and they told Daddy I should go to a specialist. And then when I did go, I found out it was thyroid. Now I have to take that one pill all my life!

Ruth:
So that was a good move, because that wasn't a major problem; it was something that was easily corrected.

Mildred:
I just had to take one pill -- what was it called? Radioactive iodine! Instead of surgery, it was radioactive iodine.
